I'm thinking about Alberto. It seems to be coming right to Orlando. Though it's true that you can't get an ocean-front view from an Orlando hotel room, it' still gets affected by tropical storms and hurricanes, make no mistake about it. My brother, the Dorkfish, is great at keeping secure during a hurricane. The last time one hit, his apartment windows were so thoroughly boarded up, he and his wife tried to order Chinese, and got mad when they were told nobody was coming out. They literally couldn't see or hear the storm! He's also very, very, very good about stocking up. My whole family's that way. I still worry about them, and about my friends. I know it's only a Cat 1, if that. I don't care. I worry.
Of course, if I were *there*, I'd be taking a sick day and going surfing!
The parade was nice. I've never gone to a Pride parade at night. I liked it so much better. I also loved the multicultural market. Even going there, it cost less than Gay Days at Disney. It was cooler and less humid, it wasn't so frenetically paced, and L'Ailee didn't have the urge to twist my hair into "mouse ears." There was also a wonderful cross-section of people, all colors and ethnicities and religions and classes. Gay Days tends to be sort of homogenous--well-off and white, to be perfectly blunt.
Then on Sunday, I watched Denny Hamlin win the Pocono race and Tony Stewart come back. (Third! While still hurting!) I'm not a Jeff Gordon fan, but I was still grateful to see him walk away from that crash. I can't believe he checked his car's brakes, though! I think he was still a bit rattled. Later, I watched the 4400. What an amazing show! I wondered what they were going to do with Tippi Hedren; I didn't see that coming. I kept breathing, "Oh my Gawd!" a lot. It made some points about civil liberties versus safety, good versus evil, and profiling. I can't wait for more!
They have a very cool game in which you can learn your 4400 ability! You don't have to be a fan to enjoy this. Mine is "Mind Control Master."
I'm going to be very busy the next couple days, so please nobody think I'm just ignoring them!

This was the first year in ages I missed Boston Pride. Deadlines come before celebrating sadly. Glad you had a good time ~ without the hair twisted into mouse ears!
i've never been to a pride parade (not many of those happening in my small town) but i did once go to a gay bar and got hit on by a guy!
I've been considering a new "do".
Thanks for solving my hair issues.

Oh we totally love the 4400! Off to check that 4400 ability link.
Um, twisting your hair into Mickey Mouse ears? That just kicks ass.
This weekend is pride in Portland. But I like the idea of a night time parade! All those glowsticks....
We'll be celebrating Pride here in the Tampa Bay area next Saturday the 24th. It will be held in St. Petersburg and last year we had over 35,000 people in attendance. I know that's small compared to large cities but it's just perfect for this area.
Alberto scared me out of New Orleans..... I was unsure how long I would stay away, but the idea that it could head in our direction and my puppies was enough to get me on the plane and back home ASAP!
Luckily for all of us, it veered to the North and really fizzled out. Thank the stars~
